part-2: 9.5/10, that piggyback scene in part-1: 9.5/10, rest of the part-1: 6.5/10. one of my favorite things about this story is that there's no supernatural element at all. it also features some of my favorite side characters from the franchise (Odilon, Imeon and Maria) |

there is so much I want to say about this series of visual novels, I dont even know where to start. I'll eventually get around to finish writing this, but I definitely need to finish rereading it first to sort out my thoughts because no other piece of fiction has ever put me through such an emotional rollercoaster. every time you think the story has hit its peak, it somehow proves you wrong and keeps getting better (until The Revenants' Dream). I've never cried this hard over anything else. You always see people saying they wish they could forget a game or a show just to experience it again for the first time. I used to roll my eyes at that kind of talk thinking just rewatch it, its not that deep. I never really related to that kind of hype. But after reading this, I get it. I genuinely feel like I'd do anything do forget this story just to feel that first time magic all over again. I'd love to be proven wrong someday, but honestly I dont think I'll ever come across another fictional work that I'll love this much for the rest of my life. Anyway, enough yapping. Until I finish my reread, here's my placeholder Steam review: The best game I have ever played. The best story I have ever read. The best antithesis of revenge stories. Has the best protagonist. Has the best antagonist. Has the most realistic fictional characters and sweetest romance I have ever read. Has my favorite soundtracks |

this is easily my second favorite story in all of video games. the game does an amazing job of exploring dichotomies without forcing one perspective as the right choice. like would you rather give up control your life and future generations to make the most of the little time you have left? or would you fight back against an unknown force in hopes of creating a better future even if the odds are unclear? and would you accept the dead of your loved ones and move on or would you give in to escapism convincing yourself they are all still out there happy? the best part is that the game lets you decide. you get to choose the ending that feels right to you. - Team Verso/Renoir. I liked all the characters but Lune is my favorite, but she is very irrelevant to the whole plot lmao |

There is a lot of dialogue options in this game, and I was honestly surprised by how natural they felt. Most of them sounded like things I would actually say or atleast like real people talking, instead of the super generic lines you usually get in JRPGs. Nin Situ is easily my favorite character. As for the story, It started out like your typical 'evil corp vs suffering poor people' setup, but it really took me by surprise with where it went. That said, for a story pushing so much AI, its kind of weird that most of the jobs are still manual labor. They tried to explain it by saying this one workplace is behind on tech, but still. Also, one thing that bugs me about sci-fi in general is how so many of them stick to our current economic system even when automation is everywhere, it just doesnt make much sense. |
